"His Sister's Son"

The Shoshone chief Cameahwait pauses a moment to see his young nephew "Pomp", son of his sister Sacagawea.

This painting depicts a visit by Cameahwait to the "hide tent" shared by Lewis, Clark, Touissant Charbonneau and his young wife Sacagawea and son Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, "Pomp". This painting was in the fixed price sale at the prestigious C.M. Russell Art Auction in Great Falls, Montana, March 2006.

Michael was also a featured speaker at the Russell Auction. Using his paintings, preliminary drawings and explaining his research and painting techniques, he gave a Power Point presentation titled

"Achieving Historical Accuracy in Artwork"
